Introduction
PLAN PART 4: INNOVATION AND CONNECTION IN BRAINPARK
Plan part 4 represents a new dynamic in the development of Brainpark Rotterdam, marking an important phase. This subarea, designed by diederendirrix architecture, comprises two innovative buildings strategically located between plan part 2, plan part 3 and the A16 motorway. The buildings consist of a Mobility Innovation HUB and an accommodation building with 240 short-stay homes, and together they form an important link in connecting the different plan sections.
The design of the buildings plays with height differences, with them being about 25 metres high on the side of the wandering area and rising to 35-55 metres on the A16 side. This creates a dynamic and varied cityscape that enhances the area’s skyline. The wandering environment itself creates a seamless connection between the plan sections, creating a lively and accessible environment.
Construction of plan section 4 is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, with expected completion in the second quarter of 2027. This plan section will be a vibrant, connected and sustainable addition to the Max Euwe Quarter, where living, working and recreation come together in a dynamic urban environment. With a mix of functions and facilities, plan section 4 will contribute to the further development of a modern and vibrant city district.
