On Tuesday, 11 June 2024, our CEO Tom Bakkers, together with Minister Hugo de Jonge (Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations) and Hermineke van Bockxmeer, Director of Urban Development for the Municipality of Rotterdam, signed the agreement at Provada to officially confirm the start of construction of 741 homes in the Max Euwekwartier, Brainpark I in Rotterdam.
In the Max Euwekwartier at Brainpark I in Rotterdam, construction of 741 homes will begin in the final quarter of 2024. In addition to these 741 homes, Bakkers Hommen will deliver approximately 750 more homes in the subsequent phases from 2025 onwards. This includes the development of social housing for housing association Woonstad within Brainpark.
The ground floors of the residential complexes will offer 7,600 m² of space for various amenities, such as offices, hospitality establishments and community facilities. This will create an attractive and lively streetscape at eye level.
With this development, we contribute to transforming Brainpark I into a green and appealing place to live and work.

Brainpark I
Brainpark I is located between Erasmus University and the A16 motorway and is currently still primarily an office district. That is about to change. Outdated office buildings are being converted into sustainable workplaces and homes, surrounded by a wide range of amenities and a green, water-rich living environment.
Oostflank
Brainpark is part of Rotterdam’s Oostflank, the area stretching from Prins Alexander to Zuidplein. In the coming years, Rotterdam will build 30,000 homes here to meet the rapidly growing demand for housing in the city. The construction of these homes goes hand in hand with the development of a new city bridge between IJsselmonde and Kralingen and the introduction of rapid public transport between Zuidplein and Kralingse Zoom.
