Challenge
Introducing housing into a former industrial environment
The primary challenge was transforming a mono-functional industrial site into a liveable residential setting. The project had to accommodate housing while respecting the site’s heritage, scale, and existing urban structure.

Approach
Building on identity, not replacing it
HUGO’s design approach builds upon the industrial DNA of the Koelhuis District. By integrating contemporary housing typologies with collective spaces and a clear urban structure, the project creates a coherent transition from industrial past to residential future.
