Parking infrastructure as active urban space

The Mobility Innovation Hub transforms a traditional parking facility into a multifunctional building that supports movement, activity, and everyday urban life.

challenge

Challenge

Rethinking parking as part of the city

The challenge was to design a large parking facility that contributes positively to the urban environment rather than functioning as a closed, mono-functional structure. The building needed to combine efficiency with openness, activity, and long-term adaptability.

approach

Approach

Layering mobility, work, and recreation

The design organises the building into three clear layers: an active ground floor, functional parking and storage levels, and a publicly accessible rooftop landscape. A varied façade with green elements improves the microclimate and strengthens the building’s relationship with its surroundings.

impact

A new model for urban mobility infrastructure

The Mobility Innovation Hub strengthens Brainpark Phase 4 by integrating mobility with social, environmental, and economic value.

By opening up the ground floor and rooftop to public use, the building creates new places for sport, work, and social interaction. It turns mobility infrastructure into a shared urban asset rather than a barrier.
