challenge

Challenge

Accommodating density without losing human scale

The challenge for Phobos was to integrate a high number of homes within a single building while maintaining liveability and accessibility. The project had to balance density, programme diversity, parking, and shared amenities without compromising spatial quality or neighbourhood character.

approach

Approach

Layering programme, mobility, and community

Phobos is organised through a clear spatial logic that separates private living, shared facilities, and public functions. By combining diverse housing types with communal spaces, bicycle infrastructure, and a strong plinth, the building supports both individual living and collective urban life.

impact

Creating value beyond housing

Phobos contributes to long-term urban quality by strengthening social inclusion, sustainability, and resilience within the Mars district.

With its wide housing mix and shared amenities, Phobos supports an inclusive community where different groups can live side by side. Communal spaces and outdoor areas encourage interaction, wellbeing, and a strong neighbourhood identity.
